YES ON 2
On Tuesday, November 7, Maine voters can ban foreign government influence in our elections by voting YES on ballot question 2.

The Federal Elections Commission recently ruled that it has no jurisdiction over state referendum campaigns, creating a dangerous loophole that allows corporations controlled by foreign governments to spend in referendum campaigns unless explicitly prohibited by state law.
A YES vote on Question 2 would close that loophole and put elections back in the hands of Maine people — and out of reach from foreign government-owned entities.
What Would Question 2 Do?
Ban Foreign Spending in Elections
Stop foreign governments from spending in Maine elections.
Impose new public disclosure requirements on foreign entities that engage in issue advertising
Require that media companies disclose illegal spending by foreign powers.
Combat Corruption
Demand passage of an anti-corruption amendment to the U.S. Constitution that will restore the power of the Maine people and legislature to fully regulate campaign finance laws.
Our Supporters
“Maine has always been a leader when it comes to keeping big money out of politics and passing this legislation will allow us to continue in that tradition. This bipartisan, common sense [legislation] will limit foreign interference on our elections and institute critical accountability measures. Now is the time to take action and listen to Maine people who strongly support these safeguards to our electoral process.”
“It is unconscionable that foreign governments are currently permitted to dump millions of dollars into referenda campaigns, the very tool with which Maine voters can directly affect state law. In order to maintain the integrity of our elections and political process, we have an obligation to close the loophole identified. by the FEC in 2021, and it’s no surprise that Maine voters agree.”
“Maine voters should decide Maine elections. It’s as simple as that. I’m proud to support the Protect Maine Elections initiative.”
